One of many loveliest areas within the Berkshires has a brand new touchdown spot. Prospect is a lakeside cabin resort in Egremont, simply outdoors of Nice Barrington, Massachusetts, dreamed up and delivered to fruition by three locals who noticed the potential of what had been a campground-turned-RV park.
Ian Rasch and Roman Montano are eco-minded designer/builders and Ian’s spouse, Jade-Snow Carroll, runs the natural bedding firm Sister Moons—together with her mom and sister. The property’s 30 wooded acres sit on a selection patch of Prospect Lake that within the late nineteenth century was developed as a picnic spot. The trio envisioned recapturing the grandeur by making a luxe, camp-style, year-round retreat. As soon as the land was cleared of invasive crops and meticulously renewed, it acquired 49 customized cabins as shells that Alander Development, Ian and Roman’s agency, completed and Jade furnished in a sprightly Scandinavian type.
The Cliff Home, a historic however crumbling lakeside hub, was rebuilt because the resort’s gathering spot, with a restaurant and a present store that Jade shares with an impressed wild-card combine (on a latest go to, I unexpectedly snapped up a neon-orange striped seashore towel, Korres tinted lip balm, and Seventies Bjørn Winblad ceramic trivets). There’s additionally boating, a spool large enough for lap swimming, tennis and pickleball, and a selection of lakeside and poolside saunas. And, sure, Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow, and the Berkshires many different well-known sights are inside putting distance. However Prospect is a secluded world unto itself.
